Sally is an established Brighton based illustrator and print maker with a passion for mid-century design and pattern. Like many artists, she is also inspired by the natural world; it is generally the British landscape and wildlife that provide this artist with an infinite source of inspiration. Though she has been known to venture onto more exotic subjects, Sally is influenced by the subtle colours and shifting character of each British season.

These natural subjects are filtered through the artist’s passion for the mid-century modern style. Comparisons are often made to Charlie Harper, the popular commercial artist prolific during the 1950s. Essentially what Sally aims to achieve is a stylised, graphic interpretation of the intricacies of the natural world.

With a thoroughly modern design technique, all Sally’s prints begin life on a computer, which enables her to best create the defining crisp lines and silhouettes. Character and texture are added through the method of printing, resulting in a unique artwork inspired by the process itself.

Due to the very ‘hands-on’ nature of screen-printing, each piece will be unique.
Sally produces her own silkscreen prints in small editions, usually a maximum of thirty to fifty.
